The markets are a reflection that Barcelona continues to be a city with a lot of local life and a lifestyle that is committed to home cooking, quality raw materials and shopping in an environment of trust and personal treatment. Shopping at the local markets is being a true Barcelonian.
Some of the best known markets are the following:
- Mercat de la Boqueria: Located on Las Ramblas, it is the most popular market in Barcelona. At its stalls you can breathe a thousand aromas, flavors and colors, and if you are looking for something difficult to find, it is surely here. It is almost essential to have a snack in the Pinotxo or the Quim, two bars that serve excellent tapas and house specialties. For a reason they are always full.

- Mercat de Santa Caterina: This market has a spectacular shaped and colored roof that was restored in 2005. We recommend eating at the Cuines de Santa Caterina restaurant, which blends the market atmosphere with a more fashion style, in a greenhouse atmosphere.

- Mercat de Sant Antoni: This market, built in 1882, has recently been restored and the result is spectacular. In the interior part there are food stalls, and on the exterior part (called Els Encants de Sant Antoni) where Paral.lel stalls for non-food products have been installed. The Sant Antoni market is also traditionally a meeting place for collectors, both adults looking for coins, old books or stamps, and children who want to exchange stickers from current collections.
